Ren\u00e9e E. Layman, MS, LMHC, Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Child Counseling<\/a><\/span>, is a licensed mental health counselor with over 20 years of experience in mental health, fifteen specific to children and their families. In leadership roles over the past 12 years, Ms. Layman has been a passionate advocate for child and family health, bringing high-quality services for some of the most pressing issues facing at-risk children and families in Palm Beach County. In addition to her experience in the nonprofit sector, Ren\u00e9e has successfully worked with children and families in private practice, specializing in childhood trauma, loss, and developmental difficulties utilizing Play and equine assisted therapies. She has training in filial therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, child-parent psychotherapy, EMDR, and is an accredited provider of the Triple P Parenting Program. In recognition of her work in the area of child and family wellness, Ren\u00e9e received Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\u2019s Women of Excellence: Health & Wellness Award in 2011. She serves on the School District of Palm Beach County\u2019s ESE and SHAC Mental Health Advisory Committees. She is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County\u2019s Class of 2010 and continues to be an active member of the organization as program cochair for the Engage Program. Ms. Layman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and a Master\u2019s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
